Daybed, anonymous, c. 1700 - c. 1710

gilding, h 125.5cm × w 263cm × d 84cm More details

The carving of this bed includes a profusion of fleursde-lis, the heraldic emblem of the French royal family. This exceptionally large piece of furniture was perhaps made for one of the royal princes or princesses. It was probably meant to be used as a daybed. No other piece of furniture of this design and size is known.
