Cycling jacket, anonymous, 1898 - 1900
wool, l 60cm × w 70cm More details
Towards the end of the 19th century, women took up cycling as well. For greater freedom of movement, they combined fashionable, tailored jackets with wide skirts, and even bloomers. This jacket is the perfect example of expert tailoring combined with elegant details: scalloped fabric and decorative stitching along the seams, on the collar and the sleeves. Some of the missing buttons have been replaced.
